Arrival in Paro and Introduction to Buddhism

 Day 1: Arrival in Paro and Introduction to Buddhism

Upon arrival in Paro, you will be warmly received with a white scarf and driven to your hotel. After refreshing, embark on sightseeing in the Paro Valley. Visits will include Kichu Lhakhang, one of the oldest temples in Bhutan, where you will participate in a short discourse on Bodhicitta (the mind of enlightenment) and the cultivation of right intention, followed by a meditative session.

 

Evening: After dinner, there will be a discourse titled "Introduction to Buddhism," providing an overview of Buddhist principles and practices. You will spend the night in a hotel in Paro.

 Day 2: To Thimphu - Mindfulness Exercise and Discourse

Start your day with a pre-breakfast morning meditation session focusing on breathing exercises and mindfulness. After breakfast, visit Paro Dzong, a large dzong (fortress) and monastery, to learn about its history and Buddhist art. Later, drive to Thimphu, Bhutan’s capital. Upon arrival, visit the Memorial Chorten, Changangkha Lhakhang, and Tashichho Dzong. Engage in a short prayer and meditation session.

Evening: After dinner, the second discourse, "The Three Phases of Buddhism," will deepen your understanding of Buddhist teachings. You will stay overnight in a hotel in Thimphu.

 Day 3: To Punakha - Breathing Exercise and Developing Bodhicitta

Begin the day with another pre-breakfast morning meditation focusing on breathing exercises and mindfulness. After breakfast, drive to Punakha, the old capital city of Bhutan. En route, stop at Dochula Pass (3,050 meters) to enjoy beautiful views of snowcapped mountains and visit the 108 stupas, where you will have a brief meditation session.

In Punakha, visit the majestic Punakha Dzong and Chimi Lhakhang, the Temple of Fertility, with a briefing and meditation on Buddha.

Evening: After dinner, the third discourse, "Mahayana Buddhism and Bodhicitta," will be conducted. You will stay overnight in a hotel in Punakha.

 Day 4: Punakha – Meditation at Riverside

The day begins with a pre-breakfast morning meditation session focusing on breathing exercises and Bodhicitta (the mind of enlightenment). Spend the full day touring the Punakha Valley. Take a short hike to Khamsum Yuelley Namgyal Chorten, a stunning stupa, and meditate by the riverside, enjoying a picnic lunch. Here, you can practice meditation by yourself or with assistance from your guide.

Evening: After dinner, engage in the fourth discourse, "Tantric Buddhism." You will spend the night in a hotel in Punakha.

 Day 5: Punakha – Baey Langdrak – Practice Emptiness

Begin with a pre-breakfast morning meditation focusing on breathing exercises and Bodhicitta. After breakfast, drive to Beyul Langdrak, a sacred place associated with Guru Rinpoche. Enjoy a short hike in the village and meditate on Guru Rinpoche at the village monastery or at the cliff temple.

Evening: After dinner, participate in the fifth discourse, "Interdependence, Non-self, and Emptiness." You will stay overnight at a monastery guest house in Beyul Langdrak.

 Day 6: Drive to Paro - Breathing Exercise

Start with an early morning meditation focusing on breathing exercises and the concept of Emptiness. After breakfast, drive back to Paro, stopping at Dochula Pass for lunch. Once back in Paro, you will have the afternoon to explore the town on your own.

Evening: After dinner, engage in the sixth discourse, "Carrying on Daily Practice." You will stay overnight in a hotel in Paro.

 Day 7: Paro – Hike to Tiger's Nest and Afternoon at Leisure

Visit the iconic Tiger's Nest Monastery, one of the most important pilgrimage sites for Buddhists and a highlight of the tour. After a visit and lunch at the teahouse, retrace your trek downhill and drive back to the town.

Evening: After dinner, engage in a final session focusing on "Carrying on Daily Practice" and a question & answer segment. You will spend the night in a hotel in Paro.

 Day 8: Departure from Paro

After breakfast, you will be driven to the airport to bid farewell and catch your flight, marking the end of this transformative journey through Bhutan.
